Nuclear Toilet Paper

As you have probably noticed, NTP has undergone a semi-major format change. Hope you like the way I've laid it out. Otherwise, tough.

Things are still somewhat in construction phase so if you want something or whatnot, now is the time to voice it.

I can add more blogs also, if anyone is interested (Chelsea, William).

I admit to a certain amount of ignorance where blogs are concerned. While I am slightly insulted at having been left out, I am also completely uneducated as to their purpose, and am not sure what use I would have for one.

Other than that, I think I approve. It is clear, easy, and organized.

Yes, I approve.

You weren't left out. You simply hadn't shown interest yet. I'm glad you approve: does this imply you want one? If so, would you like it to be called Chelsea or MissJedi or something else?

See, I'm not really sure if I want one. What exactly is the purpose of a blog?

MissJedi

And I quote: "A blog doesn't need a purpose. It's just a thing where you go there when you have to blog, and you go blog."

Here's an encyclopedia article on the topic: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog

Essentially, a blog is like a personal and private journal that isn't personal, nor private. I'm starting one simply because I think it will help me with my writing, and because I have some vain hope that I might pick up some readers that will crush on me and ask me on blind dates. Faith and Shaun were over here when I finally decided to do it, so I set blogs up for them as well.

Running a blog is definitely more complicated than this forum, but not as complicated as the wiki. It takes a little work to set one up but if you want one I can do it. I've been thinking that our activity on the forum is mainly one of starting a new topic with one big post on some thought and then everyone's responses and rebuttals. That maps nicely to a blog where you post entries and others can comment.

Mmm... interesting. I may want one eventually, but as yet I don't see that I have a need for one.

Queston: Aside from being less complicated, what makes a blog different from the Wiki?

Heehee... I can't resist.

Faith, yours is pretty. However, there is nothing there but the pretty picture.

Shaun, yours tries really hard to be informative, but I can't read the beginning of each line which causes problems.

Hilton, yours seems to be working the best (imagine that!) but there is a spelling error in your title.

Umm... kitties are cute!

What spelling error???

A blog is a linear sequence of postings, plus comments. A wiki is an amorphous web of pages.

Umm...I have no idea what you mean. I would have to see it in order to be able to suggest a solution.

What spelling error, indeed. ;)

What do you mean, you can't see it, Shaun? When I go to your blog, it has this really great (I assume) post, but I can't read it all because the border covers up the first part of every line.

Thanks for the info... I'll watch how yours pan out and see if I have any great need for one. At this point, I confess, I doubt it.

I can only think that your resolution is too low. If you can expand it, you definitely should. Otherwise I'll look into it.

Any great need of one? Who has great need of one?

Good point.

If I got a blog, it would probably turn into a grocery list or bulletin board for me.

Heehee... I did get a fun idea yesterday whilst shoveling manure. (It's a great time to think!) The trouble is, I'm not sure that I would get anyone to play with me. My ideas tend to be at once frivolous and strenuous, if somewhat ingenious to those willing to play.

Nice opening salvo. And your idea is...?

Hilton

That everyone who reads my blog
Sees a fanciful pasttime,
Every post written therein
Must be in creative rhyme.
